Master Degree in Visual Effects

This program is one of a kind since it teaches our students all that is related to animation and visual effects, including the use of cameras, computers, software, foam latex, effects makeup and much more.

When our students finish their BA, they are prepared to, not only provide artistic services, but to offer full solutions to solve most of the challenges that the industry presents.

Since we have the commitment to help you to be one the best artists in the field, WEFIS admits only 24 persons per year for this program.

Course Outline

The first year of this program takes our students through different art foundation subjects such as perspective drawing, screenwriting, cinematography, history of Art, 2D animation, 3D modeling, Life Drawing and more.

On their second year, students will learn advanced Vector, Character and 3D animation using Maya and Flash. It is during this period that they complete their first demo reel, which is a one minute short film using several 3D software tools.

The third year of this program has our students use all the knowledge they have already aquired in the first two years and teaches them how to apply it in order to develop special effects by modeling in the real world using foam latex and stop motion animation and effects makeup. Then, students migrate to the digital realm of visual effects, and learn how to rotoscope, animate, composite, and matchmove using tools such as Maya Live and After Effects, and finally, they learn how to use MOCAP to apply precaptured animation to 3D models.

Once they have graduated, our students will have one 3D animation reel, one Special Effects portfolio and one Visual Effects reel. This will help them demonstrate their advance skills in the art of Animation and VFX, and to knock with confidence at the doors of the best studios in the world.

WEFIS Animation school will only take 18 students per year for this study program, so people who are interested in it are advised to apply at least three to four months before it begins.
